Keyword Density - Why It Does't Matter to Google
I received the following question today:
Here is my answer:
Writing for any certain density is not natural. Google doesn't like non-natural things. In the past people would keyword stuff pages to get to the top of the SEs (Search Engines). Once Google figured this out they made adjustments for keyword stuffing.
And when you look at it, it just looks bad. Here is an example:
Not good at all. That could be rewritten with only one use of red cars.
I like red cars. They are fast. They are the best cars. You should buy one.
O.K., that might not be the best paragraph but you can see how it is not keyword stuffed and the meaning is the same.
I never look at keyword density anymore. If I am targeting a certain keyword, I will try to put it in the article title and at least once in the body. If it happens to end up in the article more, that's fine, but I never add it in or force it in.
I will then anchor the page using keyword backlinks pointing to the page with the article.
BTW, keep the questions coming in the comments and I will answer the best I can.

Hi
I think you have made a very good point here. As long as you use it in your title and tags then just use the word naturally in your content.
As a bonus, where possible, I try to link out of your website using the keyword too, this is telling the Search engines that your page is about that keyword and you are linking to more info at another site.
